CASE
STUDY: Air Quality (New Material Off-Gassing)
- Brand New Library The Colorado mountain
town of Granby completed a new, award winning
library in 2007. After opening, staff and
patrons complained about a variety of indoor
air quality issues they had noticed at different
times throughout the day. Eventually the
management had to close the library and call
Envergent.
We
began with a series of tests as part of our
complete indoor air quality assessment. After
completing this process, Envergent uncovered
a number of issues. The primary problem was
a combination of new building materials that
were still off-gassing, along with a ventilation
system that was not operating properly.
Our report not only showed
all problem areas in great detail, but it also
provided an extensive recommendation list to
include changes that needed to be made to the
building's ventilation system, and also replacement
of certain building materials.
The library followed this
advice carefully and was able to solve this
problem quickly and affordably. |
